High honor awarded

The 10th annual festival of the University of Economics (UE) in Wrocław was recently held. A highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the “Merit for the University of Economics in Wrocław” medal (Zasłużony dla Uniwersytetu Ekonomicznego we Wrocławiu) by Rector Prof. Andrew Gospodarowic to:

• Professor Jirí Kraft of the Technical University in Liberec,
• Professor Rainer Hampel of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences,
• Dr. Helena Neumannová of the Technical University of Liberec, and
• Dr. Ernst Richter of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.

This medal is the highest honor awarded by the University of Economics in Wrocław and was conferred upon these individuals by resolution of the Senate in recognition of their long-standing work at the Academic Coordination Center of the Universities of the Neisse Euroregion.

The Academic Coordination Center (ACC) was founded in 1991 with the goal of promoting cross-border cooperation among universities in the Euroregion. Its members are:

• the Technical University of Liberec,
• the University of Economics in Wrocław, Jelenia Góra branch,
• Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences,
• the International University Institute in Zittau, a central facility at the Technical University of Dresden,
• the Karkonosze University in Jelenia Góra, and
• the Technical University of Wrocław, Jelenia Góra Branch.

In his laudatory speech, the rector of the University of Economics in Wrocław paid special tribute to the work of the aforementioned individuals in coordinating all international academic and research activities in the Neisse Euroregion.
