High-voltage technology presents research results
Results on microstructured surfaces were very well received at the IEEE conference in Budapest.
The IEEE International Conference on Dielectrics (ICD) took place in Budapest from Sunday, July 1, through Thursday, July 5, 2018.
The ICD is an interdisciplinary forum of the Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society of the IEEE, which enables scientists and practitioners from the fields of chemistry, materials science, and electrical engineering to engage in an intensive exchange on the dielectric behavior of gaseous, solid, and liquid materials and their further development.
This year’s conference was attended by approximately 250 participants from 50 countries, who presented their scientific findings in 45 presentations and 160 posters.
The focus of ICD 2018 was on discussing current studies of dielectric materials and components with a view to ensuring safe and low-loss energy transmission in the future.
The Department of High-Voltage Engineering / Materials / Theoretical Electrical Engineering was represented at the five-day conference by Dipl.-Ing. Heike Herzig and Prof. Stefan Kornhuber, who presented the latest research findings from studies on microstructured silicon surfaces. Ms. Heike Herzig presented, under the topic “Defined SIR Surface Structures in Long-Term Testing,” and discussed the Zittau results with the international audience of experts.
