University Conducts Research on the Görlitz City Hall
Students develop concept ideas and visions for its use as a European meeting center.
Seven students from our faculty are conducting research, supported by Sparkasse Oberlausitz-Niederschlesien and the Friends of the Görlitz City Hall Association, as part of the joint research project "Kulturbrücke Neiße - Nysa, " which explores possibilities for shaping the "New Center" of the "Europastadt" GörlitZgorzelec. They are developing conceptual ideas and visions for using the Görlitz City Hall as a European meeting center.
The Zgorzelec “Dom Kultury” and the university campus on both sides of the city bridge are being incorporated into the research as part of the brainstorming process for building a cultural bridge to our neighbors. The highlight of this phase was the students’ direct interaction with the approximately 1,500 visitors on July 18, 2017, during the “Open House” event at the city hall to showcase the renovation progress.
Visitors jotted down their ideas for using the hall on the flip chart provided for that purpose. In the afternoon, Ms. Regina Risy from Sparkasse Oberlausitz-Niederschlesien presented the team with a check for 1,500 euros to support the project.
On July 5, 2017, the students will publicly present their findings as part of their semester exams at the university (July 5, 2017, 10:00 a.m., Building GII, Room 0.10).
