Highly qualified specialists for companies in eastern Saxony
The Bautzen Employment Agency and the university have reaffirmed their partnership by signing a cooperation agreement aimed at retaining young people in the region.
Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and the Bautzen Employment Agency are now working even more closely together to support prospective students, current students, and graduates in successfully launching their careers. On January 24, 2023, Prof. Dr. Alexander Kratzsch, president of Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, and Kathrin Groschwald, chair of the executive board of the Bautzen Employment Agency, signed their cooperation agreement, thereby establishing the key areas of their collaboration.
Digitalization and decarbonization are transforming the labor market. Occupations are changing or emerging. Demographic trends will have an even greater impact on the labor market and on companies’ skilled labor needs in the future as the baby boomer generation reaches retirement age.
"Our common goal is to keep young people here in the region, show them long-term career prospects and attract highly qualified specialists to the companies. The opportunities in the region are good!" says Kathrin Groschwald.
”“We offer a wide range of practice-oriented degree programs that are geared toward the current—but above all—future needs of the job market. Academic success, the quality of our degrees, a short duration of study, and good advisory services are top priorities for us. As a result, our dropout rate is already significantly lower than at other universities,” adds Prof. Dr. Alexander Kratzsch.
”The Employment Agency and the university provide continuous support to young people, starting with academic guidance, continuing beyond the start of their studies, and extending through to a successful degree and entry into the workforce. The Employment Agency’s counseling service offers regular consultation hours at the university campuses in Zittau and Görlitz.
To help prospective students choose the right degree program, the Bautzen Employment Agency’s counseling service offers orientation and information sessions. Among other events, they are on-site at the “University Open House” and the “University Information Days” hosted by the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. The next opportunity to attend will be at the University Information Day on March 25, 2023, at both the Görlitz and Zittau campuses.
The Bautzen Employment Agency advises the academics of tomorrow on career choices, provides information about the job market, helps place people in jobs, and supports the transition into working life. Should difficulties or problems nevertheless arise during your studies in individual cases, the Bautzen Employment Agency provides counseling for students who are having doubts about their studies or considering dropping out. It provides information on alternative academic and vocational training options and helps with the search for a new spot in a degree program or a vocational training position.
In addition, the Bautzen Employment Agency and the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences collaborate closely on attracting new businesses—particularly in the context of structural change in Lausitz—to jointly recruit highly qualified professionals.
The Bautzen Employment Agency works with interested individuals to develop strategies for entering the workforce. The career counseling service also provides support for those seeking a career change or, if it appears that a degree program cannot be successfully completed, helps them explore new opportunities. The Employment Agency provides information on the current job market, hiring criteria, and employer requirements. It is also happy to answer questions about applications and advise on financial assistance options available through the Employment Agency.
