"High tech meets students"

In Professor Sophia Keil’s class / course on Manufacturing Management, offered by the Faculty of Business Administration and Engineering Management, a strong emphasis is placed on practical application. The increasing digitization of business processes results in a high volume of data within companies.

To turn this data into knowledge—and thus create value for companies—so-called “dashboards” are increasingly being used in practice. To this end, SYSTEMA developed a real-time information model, including a dashboard, called RI-Suite—“Real-Time Information Suite.” This system makes it possible to prepare the data to support decision-making by employees within the company

On May 29, 2018, Dr. Gerhard Luhn and Eckhard Friedrich from SYSTEMA GmbH, based in “Silicon Saxony” in Dresden, visited the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. SYSTEMA works closely with Prof. Keil in both research and teaching. As part of the class / course, Dr. Luhn conducted a workshop for the students in which they collaboratively developed an understanding of complex production metrics. The students also gained an initial insight into the functionality of the RI-Suite.

SYSTEMA has also made the RI-Suite available to Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences free of charge for teaching and research purposes. This also marks the official launch of the Digitalization Lab led by Prof. Keil, Prof. Wendt, and Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Fallgatter, which is currently being established at the Faculty of Business Administration and Engineering Management.

It is planned that Dr. Luhn will further deepen students’ knowledge of this system through guest lectures in the “Business Software” class / course during the 2018–19 winter semester. In addition, SYSTEMA offers interested students and graduates the opportunity for an internship or a permanent position.
