Foundation of the VDE University Group
The network of tomorrow's engineers.
On October 16, 2019, Lucas Wünsche, Sven Kaminsky, and Marcus Wöckel founded the VDE university group in Zittau. VDE stands for the Association for Electrical Engineering, Electronic, and Information Technologies (Verband der Elektrotechnik Elektronik Informationstechnik e.V.).
Through active promotion of the VDE at its first event, “Dialogue with the Engineers of Tomorrow,” held in late October 2019, the group has grown from the three founding members to eleven active members. The goal of the VDE network is to support aspiring electrical engineering students individually in their professional and personal growth.
We are therefore delighted to have the active support of the HSZG’s Faculty of Electrical Engineering and would like to thank Franziska Roos (Head of VDE Youngnet), Alexandra Lamprecht (JMA Spokesperson), and Christoph Windisch (HSG Dresden) for their help in establishing the group. To ensure the university chapter’s long-term sustainability in Zittau, the HSG works very closely with the Faculty Student Committee for Electrical Engineering to encourage students from various academic years to join the VDE network.
The VDE Zittau University Group is a member of the Association of German Electrical Engineers. We are the network for the electrical engineers of tomorrow. As part of our activities in Zittau:
- we establish new event formats and projects for student life in Zittau
- we provide PDF access to VDE standards (instructions available on VDE SharePoint)
- we facilitate connections based on individual professional interests and to specialized working groups
- we facilitate connections with companies for work placement semesters within the VDE network
- we organize field trips to key locations in the energy and automation industries
- We provide you with free admission to the Hannover Messe
- We connect you with other electrical engineering students in the KIA network for your projects
