Great Interest in Zittau's Educational History
The lecture on the history of the building complex of the historic weaving school was very well attended.
Well over 100 visitors attended Dr. Wolfgang Menzel’s lecture on February 24, titled “On the Architectural History of the Historic Weaving School Complex.” Information was provided on the origins and former use of what is now Building Z I at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. Afterward, visitors took a tour to see the current appearance of the modern teaching building. Two phases of the comprehensive reconstruction of the building at the corner of Hochwaldstraße and Theodor-Körner-Allee have now been completed. The visitors were delighted by the successful integration of historical elements into modern functionality, which enables teaching and scientific work at the highest level. Among the guests were many former and current employees of the university, as well as numerous interested residents of Zittau.
