Joint QM-F symposium

Across Germany, there was lively interest in the workshop “The State of Research Support at Smaller Universities—Assessment and Outlook,” which was organized by the “QuiF” (Baden-Württemberg) and “QM-F” (Saxony), has generated keen interest nationwide. Even weeks before the registration deadline, all 70 spots had been filled—by interested participants from across Germany. The event will take place on July 15, 2016, in Karlsruhe.

Since 2012, the universities of applied sciences in the Free State of Saxony have been addressing the topic of “Quality Management in Research (QM-F),” and since the end of 2015, there has been a collaboration with the project “Quality in Research—Optimization of Support and Service Processes (QuiF),” which is being carried out at the universities of education in Baden-Württemberg. Even though the academic focuses of the universities differ, the first networking meeting already revealed many parallels and identified areas for improvement.

At this conference, the Saxon universities of applied sciences will present their project results and define objectives for the implementation of quality standards in the field of university research. The organizers are already looking forward to the professional exchange on research conditions at other universities.

For the World Café table on the topic “WHAT IS RESEARCH MANAGEMENT AND HOW CAN IT BE IMPLEMENTED?”, the representative from HSZG, Sabine Scholz, will provide the substantive input—in coordination with partners from Saxony’s universities of applied sciences.
