Working together for sustainable development

As part of the 6th International Conference on Sustainable Development organized by the universities in the Neisse Euroregion that are members of the ACC , current and important topics related to sustainable development at universities in the Neisse Euroregion (ERN) , while also celebrating 25 years of collaboration.

The first highlight of this conference was the handover of the ACC presidency from the Rector of the Technical University of Liberec, Prof. Dr. Ing. Zdeněk Kůs, to the Dean of the branch campus of the University of Economics in Jelenia Gora, Prof. Dr. hab. Elżbieta Sobczak.

Special guests of honor included the Consul of the Czech Republic in Dresden, Ms. Eva Reinöhlová, who, in her welcoming remarks, specifically praised the commitment to cooperation and the many joint activities of the ERN universities. In his welcoming remarks, the Mayor of Zittau, Thomas Zenker, provided information about the importance of cooperation among the ERN universities for the future, mentioning, among other things, Zittau’s potential application for the title of “European Capital of Culture 2025.” However, he believes this application only makes sense if it also involves many of the neighboring communities on both sides of the border.

Subsequently, five current flagship projects resulting from the universities’ collaboration were presented at the conference, with particular emphasis placed on the topic of sustainability with the aim of promoting the European unification process.
