Working together for sustainable development

The Academic Coordination Center (ACC) Universities in the Neisse Euroregion celebrates its 25th anniversary.

On Wednesday, October 11, 2017, the 6th International Conference on Sustainable Development of Universities in the Neisse Euroregion, which are members of the ACC , presented current and important topics of sustainable development of universities in the Neisse Euroregion (ERN) and at the same time celebrated 25 years of cooperation.

The first focus of this conference was the handover of the presidency of the ACC from the Rector of TU Liberec, Prof. Dr. Ing. Zdeněk Kůs, to the Dean of the branch office of the University of Economics in Jelenia Gora, Prof. Dr. hab. Elżbieta Sobczak.

Special guests of honor included the Consul of the Czech Republic in Dresden, Ms. Eva Reinöhlová, who in her welcoming address paid particular tribute to the willingness to cooperate and the many joint activities of the universities of the ERN. The Lord Mayor of Zittau, Thomas Zenker, pointed out in his welcoming address the importance of cooperation between the universities of the ERN for the future, including a possible application by Zittau for the title of "European Capital of Culture 2025". However, this application only makes sense for him if many of the neighbors on both sides of the border are also involved.

Subsequently, five current flagship projects of cooperation between the universities were presented at the conference, whereby the topic of sustainability with the aim of promoting the European unification process was particularly emphasized.
