Fraunhofer-IWU at the HSZG

Colloquium on strategies and perspectives for joint regional research and teaching in the border triangle.

In good coordination with the start of development work for the Fraunhofer Technikum on the Zittau campus, the head of the Fh Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology, Prof. Dr. Welf-Guntram Drossel, reported on strategies and perspectives for joint regional research and teaching in the border triangle as part of one of the cyclical colloquia of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. The idea of a "Plastics Center Upper Lusatia", which will also be based on the needs and potential of regional SMEs - in particular POLYSAX as an educational center for plastics - is of particular importance here.

For the research cooperation anchored in the associated cooperation agreement, Prof. Drossel named projects focusing on plastics engineering and technology, in which institutes, in particular the IPM and other faculties of the university will be involved. Magnificence Prof. Albrecht once again emphasized the importance of knowledge transfer to companies in the region.

With a view to the social training mandate, a joint professorship in "Function-integrating polymer technologies" between Fraunhofer - IWU and the university is a major and challenging project for tiered and coordinated training courses offered by the Bautzen University of Applied Sciences, the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and the TU Liberec.

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering will continue to actively support the appointed future colleague and wishes him sufficient energy and good luck for the overall project.
