Research Associate (m/f/d) - Keyword: DFG - Earthing
Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences | Application deadline: June 2, 2024
At Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, a full-time position (40 hours/week) is available as soon as possible as part of the DFG project“Influence of Local, Frequency-Dependent Network and Grounding Impedances on Current Distribution in the Soil and Grounding System”for a
Research Associate (m/f/d) — Reference: DFG — Grounding
for a fixed term until June 30, 2026.
As part of this research project, the influence of grounding systems on the development of the single-pole, frequency-dependent fault current in power systems will be investigated and evaluated. The objective is to determine the touch and ground voltages as a function of the harmonic components in the fault current for networks with resonant neutral-point grounding. In particular, the following tasks are to be addressed:
- Frequency dependence of the impedances Z(f) acting in the grounding system,
- The influence of the reduced earth current depthδE(f) of short line sections and the non-ideal parallel arrangement (oblique configurations) of the loops on the field distribution and electromagnetic coupling,
- Mathematical description and model-based representation of the grounding system of low-voltage networks and other infrastructure,
- Consideration of additional or mixed network configurations,
- Frequency dependence of the resulting reduction factors r(f),
- Evaluation of sections without a reduction conductor or where it is interrupted,
- Evaluation of grounding measures with regard to RESPE networks with a high harmonic content in the earth fault residual currentIRES.
The following knowledge and skills are required
- A completed university degree in electrical engineering with a specialization in energy systems,
- professional experience, particularly specialized knowledge in the areas of neutral point treatment and measurement in distribution networks,
- practical knowledge and experience with MatLab and PSCAD, in performing measurements and simulating transient balancing processes, as well as
- good command of German and English.
In addition, the following are desirable:
- project and research experience.
We expect you to have
- a strong interest in scientific problems,
- a reliable, dedicated, loyal, team-oriented, and independent work ethic,
- a willingness and interest in professional and personal development, as well as
- a willingness to travel for work.
Salary will be paid up to Pay Grade 11 of the TV-L collective bargaining agreement, provided the candidate meets the personal and professional requirements. The primary place of employment is Zittau. Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences strives for a balanced workforce and therefore welcomes applications from individuals of all genders. Persons with severe disabilities will be given preferential consideration if they possess equivalent professional qualifications. The University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Görlitz has set a goal of increasing the proportion of women in teaching and research and therefore expressly encourages women to submit applications.
