The final round of the chemistry competition for grammar school pupils in year 9 took place at the HSZG.
On June 17, 2025, the final competition in the chemistry performance comparison of grade 9 took place in the rooms of the Faculty of Natural and Environmental Sciences. This is prepared and carried out every year in cooperation with the State Office for Schools and Education - Bautzen site - and the Chemistry Department of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.
The teams of pupils who won the first stage of the competition in the grammar schools competed in chemical calculations and experimental tasks in the laboratory to achieve the best possible ranking. This year, teams from the following schools qualified for the final round:
In the end, the team from Zittau narrowly came out on top. They were followed by a team from Radeberg and the team from Bautzen. Ultimately, however, all participants could feel like winners, because the joy of scientific work and experimentation was always in the foreground.
After the award ceremony and presentation of prizes to all teams, a short experimental lecture with numerous interesting show experiments was held for the pupils and guests. The chemical background of the experiments was also explained to the audience.
Many thanks go to all the pupils, the participating students and staff of the HSZG as well as to the chemistry advisory teacher, Frank Liebner, who organized the performance comparison in his usual manner.
In addition to the State Office for Schools and Education and the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, the event was supported by the Fonds der chemischen Industrie (FCI) and the Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (GDCh).
