First German-Russian study certificates awarded

Kostroma (RUS). On September 30, twelve students from the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences received the first German-Russian study certificates for their active participation in the “Kostroma International Week 2016.” The joint study certificate, focusing on “Intercultural Communication and Area Studies,” was awarded for the first time. The cooperation partners are the newly founded Institute for Humanities and Social Technologies and the “Studium Fundamentale” program. Those responsible are Prof. Dr. Olga Pankratova, Lecturer Dr. Tamara Denissova (both from Kostroma State Nekrasov University), as well as Honorary Professor Dr. Klaus Werner and Frank Schneider (both from HSZG).

For some time now, German students in the *Studium fundamentale* program have been participating in an intercultural summer school in Kostroma. The two universities have maintained diverse academic ties for more than ten years as part of a higher education partnership.

For example, at the end of April 2016, Russian female students participated in a joint “Studium Fundamentale” study week in Görlitz and Zittau. Both sides agreed to continue the student exchange with two complementary events in May and September 2017.

In terms of degree programmes, a dual-degree program in the field of “integrated management,” established between the two Universities, is currently being implemented. The program is led by Prof. Jana Brauweiler of the Faculty of Environmental and Natural Sciences and Prof. Artjem Denisov of the Institute of Economics.

The project is funded by the DAAD with funds from the Federal Foreign Office (AA).
