Electricity supply of the future discussed
The HSCG was represented at Europe's leading international conference and exhibition CIRED in June.
The“24th International Conference and Exhibition on Electricity Distribution” is Europe’s leading international conference and exhibition in the field of electric power distribution networks. This year, it took place from June 12 to 15, 2017, in Glasgow at the prestigious Scottish Event Campus (SEC). More than 1,500 international participants took the opportunity to exchange ideas on new scientific findings and existing challenges in the field of electrical power supply through presentations, panel discussions, and poster presentations.
In preparation for the conference, 1,367 abstracts and 749 papers were submitted for publication, and over 700 posters were created. The event focused on six major thematic areas addressing key research topics and practical experiences in the field of electrical power distribution networks.
Not only were current developments in the areas of components, power quality, operation, and planning of power grids presented in numerous papers, open discussion sessions, and posters, but key topics such as the utilization and integration of available alternative resources and the associated future challenges for the power grid were also examined. In addition to the scientific presentations, over 100 companies at the exhibition took the opportunity to showcase themselves and their innovative products in the field of electrical power grids.
The High-Voltage Engineering Department at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences also presented a paper and a poster at this international event. Research results were presented on long-term studies of medium-voltage cable joint sleeves, which were made possible and developed through years of collaboration with Cellpack (Behr Bircher Cellpack BBC Radeberg GmbH). Through its active participation in this conference, the High-Voltage Engineering Department once again demonstrated the high international standing of its research activities in the field of cable accessories.
