A sign of community

The HSZG invited its newly appointed professors to a reception in Zittau.

A Warm Welcome to the University Community

On October 20, 2025, the University Executive Board and the Senate of Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences welcomed the newly appointed professors at a formal reception. The event sent a clear signal of the university’s welcoming culture in action and provided an opportunity for personal encounters, open discussions, and networking across faculty boundaries.

The new colleagues at the HSZG

During the period from October 2024 to September 2025, the following individuals were appointed to the university:

    Tourism Management
  • Prof. Dr.-Ing. Patricia Stange
    Information Technology / Electromagnetic Compatibility
  • Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Elisa Wirthgen
    Cell Biology
  • Prof. Dr. rer. pol. René Sadowski
    Business Administration, with a focus on Human Resources Management, Corporate Management, and Organizational Development
  • Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Gernot Veit Batz
    Theoretical Computer Science, with a focus on algorithms and data structures

Exchange and Diversity

The reception offered all new colleagues the opportunity to speak personally with the university administration and members of the Senate. In a welcoming atmosphere, experiences were shared, initial connections were made, and the diversity of the HSZG became visible and tangible.

A format that is here to stay

After the official welcome, the afternoon ended with discussions and lively exchanges. In future, the reception is to be established as an integral part of the HSZG onboarding process and will take place once a year. As a sign of recognition and as a starting point for a shared sense of togetherness.
