A life in dignity

The Swedish Institute's "BarrierFree" exhibition is currently on display in the University Library.

This exhibition can be summed up in one word - dignity. According to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, living with dignity despite a disability is a human right.

Nevertheless, equality is still a major issue in our society today. Even though we have already made great progress in our history, we are still a long way from stopping this process.

Last weekend, the University Library received the Swedish Institute's photo exhibition "BarrierFreedom" , which was shown for the first time in Germany. The presentation was translated into German by the Swedish Embassy. In this way, we also give the participants the chance to be seen and heard.

The exhibition is based on the everyday stories of 14 Swedes. In this way, the models share their passions, dreams, hopes, worries, preferences, everyday working life and their coexistence with their fellow human beings with us.

As there are no exhibition possibilities in the University Library in Görlitz due to the spatial conditions, the exhibition will be shown in the basement of the Bluebox from 15.01.2016 to 12.02.2016.

From 15.02.2016 to 11.03.2016, the exhibition will be presented at the Zittau location, on the upper floor of the University Library.
