The "MachMit" glasses collection campaign in Zittau and Görlitz

Under the motto “DONATE GLASSES—GIVE THE GIFT OF SIGHT, ” the “Brillen Weltweit” campaign coalition has already collected over 2 million pairs of glasses, refurbished them, and distributed them free of charge to people in need around the world. The nonprofit project is supported by the “Deutsches Katholisches Blindenwerk e. V. (DKBW)” and the company “BEST gGmbH, ” which primarily employs people with severe disabilities.

The coalition has now become Europe’s largest initiative for recycling used eyeglasses. Furthermore, recyclable materials generated during the processing and refurbishment of the eyeglasses are properly returned to the recycling cycle.

The “MachMit” team is therefore very pleased to be able to participate in this campaign and asks you to make a contribution. You can now donate your unused prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses—without their cases—to the collection bins located in the university libraries in Zittau and Görlitz.
