On Tuesday, October 27, 2015, the Rector, Prof. Friedrich Albrecht, invited the Germany Scholarship holders to a meeting with their sponsors. All scholarship holders and almost all sponsors accepted the invitation to this meeting. Right at the beginning, the Rector presented the sponsors with certificates and thanked them for their commitment, which has often lasted for many years.
This year's sponsors were once again TRUMPF Sachsen GmbH in Neukirch, Deutsche Kreditbank, Dresden branch, Sparkasse Oberlausitz Niederschlesien, Vattenfall Mining & Generation (two scholarships), AUKOM e. V., GWT-TU Dresden and Förderverein der Hochschule Zittau/Görlitz e. V.. For the first time, WT Energiesysteme participated in the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship program by awarding two scholarships. Member of the Bundestag Michael Kretschmer and members of the state parliament Dr. Stephan Meyer and Octavian Ursu jointly donated a Deutschlandstipendium scholarship. In addition to supporting particularly talented young people, the donors of the Deutschlandstipendium also pursue the goal of offering them prospects in the region.
This made it possible to award eleven Deutschlandstipendium scholarships to students from all faculties in the 2015/2016 academic year. The Rector presented the scholarship holders with their certificates and approval notices. This year, the following students can look forward to a Deutschlandstipendium:
Konstantin Bönisch, KIA Mechanical Engineering degree course, Sameer Datt from India, Master's degree course in Mechatronics, Kelly Hein, Housing and Real Estate Management degree course, Fabian Hilger, KIA Mechanical Engineering degree course, Iryna Kravchenko from Ukraine, Business Administration degree course, Martin Lohse, Chemistry course, Julia Rocho, KIA Electrical Engineering course, Thomas Schäfer, Master's course in Mechanical and Energy Engineering, Helen Schröter, Social Work course, Anastasia Shalagina from Russia, Business and Languages course and Peer Wenke from the Industrial Engineering and Management course.
After a general round of introductions, which was very interesting for both the scholarship holders and the sponsors, a lively discussion developed among the participants. The scholarship providers and their scholarship holders got to know each other better. There were also initial offers to complete internships at the company.
For example, Dr. Harry Thonig, Managing Director of TRUMPF Sachsen GmbH, offered his scholarship holder Sameer Datt the opportunity to get to know his company during an internship. Mr. Ullrich Neumann did the same. He offered Iryna Kravchenko the opportunity to get in touch with him for an internship. Similar offers were made by Ms. Iris Bongen from the Dresden branch of DKB, Prof. Fritz-Jochen Schmidt from GWT-TU Dresden and Andre Herzberg from WT Energiesysteme.
All of the scholarship holders see the award of the Deutschlandstipendium as an honor and personal recognition of their achievements during their studies. It also allows them to concentrate more on their studies and eases their financial situation.
Congratulations to all Germany Scholarship holders!
