Germany reads aloud - HSZG joins in!

On the occasion of the nationwide Read Aloud Day, a reading bridge will be built between the twin cities of Wiesbaden - Görlitz - Wrocław.

Reading aloud and HSZG aren’t just a good fit in the traditional lecture format. For example, in 2019, a reading night organized by the Saxony5 Transfer Network took place in the Zittauer high voltage facility. At that time, HSZG Chancellor Karin Hollstein also read to the audience. Now, a reading event is taking place on the Görlitz campus.

Since 2004, National Reading Aloud Day has been Germany’s largest reading festival and a public initiative to inspire children and adults alike about the importance of reading aloud every year on the third Friday in November. On November 18, 2022, the National Reading Aloud Day will take place for the 19th time. This year’s theme is “Unique Together,” celebrating the diversity of our society as a source of daily enrichment and a unifying force.

Together with the Society for the German Language, the city halls in Wiesbaden, Görlitz, and Wrocław, as well as the German-Polish Association Wiesbaden-Wrocław e. V., Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences will also participate in Reading Aloud Day and build a “reading bridge between the sister cities of Wiesbaden, Görlitz, and Wrocław.”

Bridges and reading aloud have something in common: both connect open-minded people who want to learn more about one another.
