Exhibition at the Faculty of Social Sciences reports on the history of the Kamenz-Herrental satellite camp.
On 17.03.2016, the exhibition "Der Schornstein mahnt!" was opened on the Görlitz campus in the Hermann-Heitkamp-Haus. The exhibition can be viewed on the 3rd floor until 12.05.2016.
The 16 panels tell the story of the Kamenz-Herrental satellite camp and the creation of a memorial at the historic site.
The exhibition by the "Kamenz-Herrental Subcamp Memorial Association" spans more than a decade of research and reappraisal of the history of the subcamp up to the handover of the newly designed memorial to the public in 2011.
The focus is on remembering the people who were interned there, many of whom lost their lives. The chimney of the memorial is a depressing reminder of the burning of the victims and also serves as a warning.
All members of the university and the public are cordially invited to visit the exhibition in the Hermann-Heitkamp-Haus in Görlitz.
