New impetus for early childhood education

The Saxon Education and Training Plan, updated under the direction of HSZG Professor Andrea G. Eckhardt, has been published - with the latest scientific findings and practical recommendations for educational work.

At the specialist event "Daycare centers of the future - elementary education as a starting opportunity" the Saxon education and training plan was published on May 6, 2026, which was developed under the direction of Prof. Ivonne Zill-Sahm (EHS) and Prof. Dr. phil. habil. Andrea G. Eckhardt (HSZG) and their project team. This update was accompanied by a comprehensive participatory process in which the content was discussed, evaluated and further developed in various formats with educational professionals from child day care facilities, child day care staff, managers, specialist advisors and representatives of providers.

The Saxon education and training plan is the legal basis for the organization of pedagogical work in child day care. As it is updated, it specifies the role and tasks of educational professionals and childminders and thus contributes to strengthening the educational and childcare mission of the elementary sector. The Saxon Education and Training Plan is the working tool that supports educational professionals and childminders in carrying out their responsible work.

The future of our society begins with our children. The task of supporting their upbringing and creating educational opportunities helps to promote children's educational careers and, not least, to make our society fit for the future.
