For the first time, a book on the Russian financial system is being published in German. Springer Gabler, the world’s leading academic publisher, is releasing an “Essential” title by Prof. Dr. Tatjana Viktorovna Nikitina of the St. Petersburg partner university of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.
Her former colleague at Zittau, Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Clemens Renker, oversaw the collaboration with the publisher, edited the book, and wrote the foreword. Dr. Angelika Schulz served as the editor.
The author provides a concise overview of the functions of the Russian Central Bank. She describes the structure and development of the banking and insurance sectors in Russia during the country’s most comprehensive transformation process following the 1917 Revolution. The Russian government faces the historic task of establishing legal frameworks for institutions such as the Russian Central Bank in such a way that competing commercial banks function as effective institutions for stability, growth, and equitable distribution in Russia.
The author fills a gap in knowledge regarding the Russian financial sector. Understanding the challenges in Russia lays the foundation for business cooperation worldwide. This helps dispel prejudices while also warning against unrealistic expectations. In this respect, this book also serves as a catalyst for global collaboration to generate good knowledge, facilitate knowledge sharing, and translate that knowledge into practical application.
The book is aimed equally at managers and employees of banks, politicians, and scholars in the financial sector.
Prof. Dr. Tatjana Nikitina is a professor at Saint Petersburg State University of Economics. She also serves as director of the Russian-German Center and the International Center for Financial Market Research (ICFMR) there. In addition to Professors Clemens Renker and Falk Maiwald from the University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Görlitz, members of the ICFMR include professors from the Technical University of Munich, the Universities of Mainz, Frankfurt, Jena, Landshut, Ghent, and Zurich. In addition to research and publications, the ICFMR is also involved in the annual “International Scientific and Practical Conference.”
