News of the unique regional architectural style of the Umgebinde houses—which is the focus of the work at the Umgebindehaus Information Center at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences (umgebindehaus.hszg.de)—has even reached Japan.

Two Japanese graduates of the bachelor’s program in architecture at Hosei University in Tokyo visited the region and gathered information on the Umgebindehaus construction .

Among other stops , Rin SHINZAWA and Daikichi ISHIMOTO visited the Umgebindehaus Information Center at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences to discuss possibilities for the energy-efficient renovation of these buildings with Dr.-Ing. Liane Vogel.

The two visitors have since returned in good health to Japan. They would like to express their gratitude for the warm welcome and plan to compile their findings into a report that promotes our region and its unique architectural style.
