Chemical Christmas event with the Ghostbusters at the HSZG
Under the motto "The Ghostbusters hunt on campus", students and lecturers from the faculty were enthusiastic.
On December 11, 2019, in front of an audience of approximately 300 people, the traditional Chemistry Christmas Show Lecture of the Faculty of Natural and Environmental Sciences took place in the large lecture hall in Zittau under the direction of Matthias Jeschke, Dipl.-Chem. (FH).
A chemical play was performed in which the parapsychologists Peter (Tobias Lein) and Ray (Christian Trapp) opened their own Ghostbusters studio in Zittau after being suspended from their university. To defeat the notorious ghosts Slimer (Tobias Lein), Gozer (Matthias Jeschke), and the Marshmallow Man (Florian Praße), they received help from Winston (Laura Schauseil) and the secretary Schanine (Christian Trapp).
Numerous chemistry experiments were integrated into the stage play, which were prepared by current and former students in the chemistry degree programme. The audience was treated to a variety of humorous dialogues paired with small explosions, flashes of light, colorful effects, and an impressive finale fireworks display. In addition to brief impromptu appearances by audience members, the Chancellor of the HSZG (Karin Hollstein), the Dean of the Faculty of Natural and Environmental Sciences (Prof. Jens Weber), and the HSZG’s Environmental Coordinator (Eric Schön) also made guest appearances.
