Nationwide Mathematics Olympiad makes guest appearance at HSZG

Over 100 participants from the administrative district of Dresden calculated, constructed and tinkered in Zittau.

On February 28 and 29, the third round (state round) of the Dresden administrative district of the nationwide Mathematics Olympiad took place in Zittau. The Christian-Weise-Gymnasium Zittau was entrusted with the organization this year.

In cooperation with our high school and other partners from the region, we were able to offer the more than 100 participants very good conditions for the two demanding invigilated (written) examinations. On Sunday afternoon and Monday morning, the pupils in years 5 to 8 worked on a total of 6 and 8 tasks respectively. They calculated, constructed and tinkered with great commitment.

We would like to thank the Technical Administration of our university for their support as well as Prof. Kratzsch from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and the Institute of Process Engineering, Process Automation and Measurement Technology. He welcomed the participants at the final award ceremony in the university's well-filled Audimax. Thanks also go to Prof. Kornhuber (also Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science') and his team for the impressive presentation in the high-voltage hall for the Year 7 pupils. The excellent cooperation with the Christian-Weise-Gymnasium Zittau is particularly worthy of praise.
