Visitor records at the Zittau "late shift"

Last Friday, October 13, 2017, Zittau hosted the “Late Shift” event. A total of ten regional companies opened their doors that afternoon and offered visitors remarkable insights into their factory floors and offices. Many interested visitors took advantage of this rare opportunity to tour the local businesses, either on their own or as part of guided tours. One company welcomed as many as 400 visitors.

Interest, curiosity, the search for an apprenticeship or a job—there were many reasons why visitors made their way to the companies that day. There, experienced employees were on hand to answer visitors’ questions and talk about their work. A wide range of career prospects was highlighted at the companies, and attendees were directed to current job openings. Student assistants from Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences were also on site, providing information about degree programmes, including the university’s well-established KIA program.

Mayor Thomas Zenker, Prof. Dr. Tobias Zschunke, Prorector for Research at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, and Matthias Schwarzbach, Head of the Zittau Office of the Dresden Chamber of Industry and Commerce, joined the management of RTT Robotertechnik-Transfer GmbH in opening this year’s “Late Shift” at 4:00 p.m. in the new RTT production hall. Afterward, visitors were able to explore the companies according to their own interests.

For the second year in a row, the Open House was held under the name “Spätschicht” and was organized in cooperation with Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, the Zittau Economic Development Agency, and the Dresden Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Zittau branch. Thanks to the large number of interested visitors, this year’s event was a complete success, and we look forward to next year’s “Late Shift.”
