Exchange, reflection and new impulses
HSZG is hosting a network meeting of Saxony's universities of applied sciences with a focus on human resources at HSZG.
On May 12, 2026, Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences welcomed staff members from Saxony’s universities of applied sciences participating in the federal-state “FH-Personal” program to a joint exchange event on the Görlitz campus.
The “FH-Personal” program is funded by the federal and state governments and supports universities of applied sciences in further developing strategies for recruiting, developing, and retaining faculty members. At Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, the project addresses topics such as employer branding, tenure track management, personnel development, and innovative approaches to recruiting new professors. The goal is to strengthen the university in the long term as an attractive employer and a modern center of academic excellence.
Following a welcome address by the Rector of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences (HSZG), Prof. Dr.-Ing. Alexander Kratzsch, the discussion focused in particular on the importance of sustainable structural development at universities. It became clear that many of the processes, formats, and networks developed as part of the “FH-Personal” initiative could not have been established in this form without the funding.
Brand Ambassadors at Universities
In the first part of the workshop, participants explored the topic of brand ambassadors at universities. Together, they discussed who can serve as authentic brand ambassadors within universities, what conditions they need, and how universities can identify and support these individuals. A practical example highlighted in particular the importance of credible insights into everyday university life and authentic communication.
Another key focus was the reflection session titled “The FH-Personal Project: Successes, Obstacles, and Prospects.” During this session, the universities openly exchanged ideas about successful measures, challenges, and key lessons learned from previous years of the project. This session particularly highlighted the great importance of a trusting and collegial exchange of knowledge and experience within the Saxon network.
In addition to the technical discussions, the meeting also provided opportunities for personal conversations and networking. During the group lunch and the subsequent visit to the Görlitz synagogue, participants were able to strengthen existing connections and gain new inspiration for future project work.
Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences would like to thank all participants for the open exchange and pleasant collaboration.
