Announcement of the teaching award
In 2015, the university administration and the university’s Friends Association will present the university’s first-ever teaching award.
In 2015, the Rector’s Office and the University’s Friends Association are presenting the university’s first-ever teaching award. The award is intended to recognize above-average dedication and outstanding achievements in teaching at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. Furthermore, it highlights the special importance of university teaching as a whole and provides an incentive for faculty members at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences to continuously improve their teaching. Consequently, the awarding of the Teaching Award supports the improvement of teaching quality and serves as an essential tool in the quality management system of Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.
The following are eligible for the award:
a) University faculty members, lecturers with a specified function,
adjunct lecturers, tutors, or
b) groups of teaching staff as defined in subsection (a)
at the University of Zittau/Görlitz. As a general rule, the award is presented to only one person or group.
The prize consists of a one-time cash award of 1,000 euros. The awarding of the prize is subject to the availability of funds from the Friends of Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences e.V.
Acceptance of the prize by the recipient is not subject to any obligation in return. The recipient may use the prize money as they see fit. Any applicable tax obligations must be observed.
At a minimum, the following documents must be submitted in writing:
- A detailed justification from the nominating entity explaining why the nominee is deserving of the award,
- Curriculum vitae (CV) of the nominee,
- Certificates of participation in university or subject-specific teaching qualification programs (as copies),
- Notable achievements in teaching over the past three years, supplemented, if applicable, by teaching materials from the curriculum, new concept, or methodology,
- Results of teaching evaluations from the past three years.
Documents not submitted by the deadline or in the required format cannot be considered in the selection process.
Individual faculty members or groups of faculty members with above-average commitment and outstanding achievements in teaching may be nominated for the Teaching Award.
Faculties and central administrative units are authorized to submit nominations in consultation with the Faculty Student Committees of Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. Nominations must be submitted to the Rector by May 4, 2015, via the Dean of the respective faculty following a decision by the Faculty Council.
The Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences will issue a certificate to the award recipient, and the chair of the selection committee will present the teaching award during the enrolment ceremony on October 1, 2015.
