Awarded for an "Excellent" Bachelor thesis
A graduate of the Faculty of Social Sciences has received the 2024 Award from three organizations. Her thesis focuses on the concept of class and its significance for Social Work.
Liana Schall, a graduate of the Social Work program in the Faculty of Social Sciences at HSZG, received the Award for Excellence from the German Professional Association for Social Work (DBSH), the Social Work Department Conference (FBTS), and the German Society for Social Work (DGSW) for her outstanding bachelor thesis titled “Class—Relevant to Social Work? An Approach to the Concept of Class and Its Significance for Social Work.”
The three organizations aim to advance Social Work as a profession and discipline and use this award to recognize outstanding final dissertations (Bachelor and master’s) and PhD theses in the field of Social Work. The award is endowed with €1,500.
The award ceremony took place at the 2024 Social Work Department Day at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences in Berlin. Caritas Executive Board Member Gabriele Stark-Angermeier delivered the laudatory speech. Other award recipients were Hannah Maiwald from Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences and Ellen Bogorinsky from Münster University of Applied Sciences.
The award-winning Bachelor thesis was supervised by Prof. Dr. Mandy Schulze and Prof. Dr. Andreas Markert, who also nominated it for the award.
