Traditional, but always different - from record-breaking registrations to rousing live music by the band Jenix.
On 23.04.2016, the central graduation ceremony of our university will take place for the sixth time. Central means that the invited Bachelor's, Diploma and Master's graduates from all degree programs and both locations will be bid farewell together. In a festive setting and usually in the presence of their proud families, the graduates are released into their new phase of life by representatives of the faculties and with a small gift from the HSZG. The ceremony is accompanied by a musical program, which will also highlight the festive occasion this year. New this year are the presentation of the 2016 Teaching Prize and the first-ever FERCHAU Prize. Two prizes that will be awarded in this dignified setting for outstanding achievements in teaching and studies. This year, the seating capacity has been completely exhausted, so unfortunately it is no longer possible to register for this part of the event.
The second highlight of the day is the joint naming of the Graduate Tree in the Student Park. This was planted in 2009 on the open space on the corner of Kantstraße and Hochwaldstraße on the initiative of the Student Council. At that time, the first 15 trees were planted together with the mayor of Zittau, the rectors and the student council. Since then, 22 new trees have been added. This means that the "Tilia cordata" (a winter lime tree) to be christened on April 23 will be the 38th tree to be planted in the student park. For the third time, hundreds of green balloons will decorate the Zittau sky, with which the graduates can send their wishes and dreams.
The day will be rounded off with the graduates' ball in the evening, where there will be partying and dancing well into the night. Right in the first hour, even before the extensive buffet in the canteen is opened, the festively dressed graduates are photographed by our professional photographer. Later in the evening, a so-called photo box will ensure that individual memories of this special day can be captured for eternity. Musically, we are particularly looking forward to the Zittau band Jenix, who will ensure an unforgettable Graduates' Ball with many cover and original songs.
Since 2003, the front-facing quartet from Zittau has been touring Germany and Europe. 13 years, 660 stages, a burnt down tour bus, a joint tour with the Bloodhound Gang (survived) and still a band - not everyone can claim that. 2 albums, their own label, no fear of spiders and a damn big heart - not only for each other and for the music, but also for the good in people. Their sound - sometimes edgy, sometimes sweet, definitely not heavy metal, but always straight to the point, straight to the soul and from there straight to the dance floor.
With well over 300 registered participants, the capacity of the Graduates' Ball has almost been reached. Nevertheless, we would like to offer university members the opportunity to register at a later date. If you are interested, please contact us by e-mail by April 10.
