Attention high voltage!
On Friday, May 17th, the HSZG will also be reading ZITTAU LIEST FÜRS HERZ
On Friday, May 17, the university will open its High-Voltage Hall in Building V (Zittau Campus) at 7:00 p.m. for the Great Zittau Reading Night.Under the motto “Zittau Reads for the Heart,” members of the HSZG will read aloud from their favorite books to students and visiting guests every half hour.
The readers will captivate the audience with gripping books written by others as well as their own works. Professor Alexander Kratzsch (IPM) will open the evening at 7:00 p.m. with a dark science thriller about an attack on the international power grid and its devastating consequences.
Continuing in the same genre, Professor Jörg Kroschel will follow an hour later with his own work: “Welcome to Hell.” This story takes listeners to the G20 protests in Hamburg, where two students become entangled in the escalating clashes.
Next up is Professor Matthias Theodor Vogt from the Faculty of Managerial and Cultural Studies. Chancellor Karin Hollstein will read about five stranded Robinson Crusoe-like characters and their humorous South Sea adventures under coconut palms.
As the night draws to a close, Ms. Heike Herzig from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science sends the audience off with the life story of startup founder Frank Thelen—a tale of the technologies of the future, bitter defeats, and the challenge of finding the motivation to start over again and again in the wake of such setbacks.
The wait until the next reading can be used to make a leisurely move to one of the other 10 venues of the Reading Night, or you can spend the entire evening in the Hochspannungshalle.
