At the 5th International Conference of the ACC on Friday, 5 June 2015, current and important topics of development planning through the internationalization of higher education were presented and discussed by representatives of the universities in the ACC. Dr. Gottfried Zeitz, former German Consul General in Wroclaw, and Ms Eva Reinöhlová, Consul of the Czech Republic in Dresden, were welcomed as special guests of honor at the event.
The lecture by former Consul General Dr. Zeitz on the topic of "The importance of scientific cooperation for European development, especially in the Neisse Euroregion" was particularly well received. Scientific cooperation and European development are inextricably linked. Starting with a historical outline of recent European development in the "House of Europe", Dr. Zeitz paid tribute to the work of the ACC by saying: "The ACC is responsible for the strategic planning and implementation of cooperation in applied science and research in the Euroregion. In doing so, it forms a regional nucleus in the center of the continent, which connects internally and towards Europe and promotes the European unification process".
Furthermore, the internationalization strategies that are currently being developed at all universities in the ERN were presented. In line with the above-mentioned objective of coordinating cooperation between the universities of the ERN in the ACC, a wide range of activities were presented and discussed. In addition to the global orientation of the courses offered by the universities of the ERN, the focus is particularly on Central and Eastern Europe.
Such priorities include the further development of the Neisse University, the coordination and establishment of new English-language study programs, especially at the TU Liberec, and the bundling of educational programs at the universities of the ERN.
