"21st Century Skills - Learning what computers can't do?"

Under the theme “Studium fundamentale and 21st Century Skills,” this year’s Teaching Day will take place on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, starting at 1:00 p.m. in the Audimax of Building Z IV.

Led by Professor Keil, Vice President for Education and International Affairs, the event is intended to kick off a university-wide discussion aimed at answering the following questions: What key competencies will our graduates need in the future? What educational offerings do we need in the Studium Fundamentale in the digital age? How can we help ensure that our students remain prepared for the future in a constantly and increasingly rapidly changing so-called VUCA world? “VUCA” refers to volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity, which are considered hallmarks of the modern world.

The event will kick off with external experts providing fundamental insights, such as on the key competencies required. Examples from teaching practices at other universities will be presented. Our students and professors at HSZG will also participate with engaging presentations. In the concluding panel discussion, student representatives will engage in a dialogue with experts, university faculty, and the lecture hall audience.

The supporting program also includes a small foyer exhibition on the topic “The Studium Fundamentale in Saxony, ” provided by the Saxony Studium Fundamentale Working Group. The foyer exhibition, which also features a separate section showcasing selected examples of “Studium Fundamentale” programs from across Germany, is open for viewing from today through the end of the month during the opening hours of Building Z IV.
