2nd survey in VATI project starts

How can older people live independently in their familiar living environment for a long time? VATI is researching the answer.

The home is the center of life in old age and the living conditions essentially determine the quality of life of older people. Under the impression of demographic change, changes in family structures and labour market dynamics, the question arises as to how home care for older people and those in need of assistance can still be provided by the family in the future.

In the project "Trust in assistance technologies for the inclusion of senior citizens" (VATI), which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, a research team from the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is surveying older people in the district of Görlitz about their previous experiences with technical aids in the home environment. The data is intended to provide information on age-appropriate living space requirements that enable independence and quality of life into old age.

The first survey was conducted at the end of 2015 / beginning of 2016. The 2nd survey will now start at the end of April / beginning of May, in which participants will be surveyed again over a period of three months. The

project manager Prof. Dr. Hoff is confident about the survey:

"I am firmly convinced that our work will make an important contribution to research into good living conditions in old age in Upper Lusatia."
