2nd survey in VATI project starts
How can older people live independently in their familiar living environment for a long time? VATI is researching the answer.
For older adults, their home is the center of their lives, and their living conditions play a key role in determining their quality of life. In light of demographic change, shifts in family structures, and labor market dynamics, the question arises as to how families will be able to continue providing home care for older adults who need care and assistance in the future.
As part of the project “Trust in Assistive Technologies for the Inclusion of Seniors” (VATI), which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, a research team from the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is surveying older adults in the Görlitz district about their experiences to date with assistive technologies in the home environment. The data is intended to provide insights into age-appropriate housing preferences that enable independence and quality of life well into old age.
The first survey was conducted in late 2015 / early 2016. The second survey will now begin in late April / early May, during which participants will be surveyed again over a three-month period. The
Project Director Prof. Dr. Hoff is optimistic about the survey:
“I am firmly convinced that through our work we are making an important contribution to research on good living conditions in old age in Upper Lusatia.”
