Erasmus students from Irkutsk and Baikal State Universities spend their summer semester in Görlitz.
In spring 2007, the foundation stone was laid for what is now a 10-year German-Russian partnership between the then Department of Languages and the former Irkutsk State Linguistic University (Eastern Siberia). During this time, almost 100 Siberian language students spent a semester abroad in Zittau or Görlitz, while 20 translation students from our university offered courses in German in Irkutsk at the beginning of each winter semester.
This partnership has since been further deepened and expanded: Since last year, our university has had an Erasmus partnership with Irkutsk State University (ISU) and Baikal State University (BSU). And last week, Prof. Dopleb welcomed Erasmus students from both Irkutsk universities to the Business and Languages degree course in Görlitz for the first time for the 2017 summer semester (see photo).
The exchange relationships are funded by the DAAD with funds from the Federal Foreign Office (AA) and the Erasmus program of the European Commission.
