The empirical and theoretical articles focus on the upbringing of children and adolescents. Topics include the development and challenges facing the younger generations, conditions for learning, their life situations, and social and political issues. Each issue centers on a current topic. Prof. Eckhardt was the lead editor for Issue 4/2013, “Language Acquisition in Childhood and Adolescence” (together with Prof. Dr. Ingrid Gogolin, University of Hamburg), and for Issue 2/2014, “Health in Childhood.”
This year, the journal celebrated its 10th anniversary. At the symposium in July 2015, Prof. Dr. Heinz-Hermann Krüger of Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg was honored with the Science Award from the journal *Diskurs Kindheits- und Jugendforschung* for his contributions, suggestions, and constructive criticism as a co-founder of the journal.
