Europastadt GmbH and Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences organized the first internship speed dating event.
Together with the Europastadt Görlitz Zgorzelec Gmbh (EGZ), the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences (HSZG) and the Görlitz IT companies of the "Runder Tisch IT" initiative organized the first international internship speed dating on 19.03.2015. The aim of the event was to make it easier for graduates of the international preparatory college to start studying in Görlitz, for example by giving them the option of internships during their studies or working as a student trainee in a Görlitz IT company. Graduates of the international preparatory college have the opportunity to study in Germany with their degree. The internship speed dating was an opportunity to show these potential students prospects in Görlitz at an early stage in order to attract them to the location in the long term.
The idea was born at a meeting of the "IT Round Table", which Europastadt GmbH regularly organizes together with the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences as part of its IT company support. "We want to support young people who come to Germany in their plans to study at university. Computer Science is a key skill that offers graduates great opportunities on the job market," comments Prof. Dr. Jörg Lässig, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at HSZG, on the internship speed dating. A flourishing IT faculty in Görlitz is also important for business development: "The IT industry has developed excellently in Görlitz in recent years. We want to continue to actively promote this trend, e.g. with measures such as internship speed dating to attract young IT talent for Görlitz companies," explains Thomas Klatte, Managing Director of EGZ.
