Saxony State Graduate Scholarship: Submit Your Application Now for Doctoral Funding
The HSZG is offering a Saxon State Graduate Scholarship. Current and prospective doctoral candidates at the HSZG may submit applications for funding for their doctoral projects by November 1, 2026.
Through the Saxon State Graduate Scholarship, Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences supports qualified early-career researchers on their path to a doctorate. The scholarship is awarded for a period of up to three years. The monthly stipend is 1,500 euros. An additional monthly supplement of 100 euros may be granted for each dependent child. The funding period is scheduled to run from December 1, 2026, through November 30, 2029.
We are very pleased that these funds are available to us and that we can use them to provide targeted support to doctoral students at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. Supporting early-career researchers is an important component of our “Young Scientists” initiative and helps provide young scientists with reliable opportunities for their future academic development.
Prospective doctoral candidates from all faculties and institutes at HSZG whose doctoral research will be conducted primarily at the University of Zittau/Görlitz are eligible to submit an application. A prerequisite is collaboration with an institution authorized to grant doctoral degrees or supervision by an HSZG professor affiliated with such an institution. A university degree qualifying for doctoral studies is required. Proof of acceptance as a doctoral candidate must be provided no later than the start of the funding period.
The application must include, among other things, a description of the doctoral project —including the research question, current state of research, and a timeline and work plan—an academic résumé, the degree certificate, and the required letters of supervision.
Please submit your complete application materials by November 1, 2026, in a single PDF file via email to forschung@hszg.de . The application deadline is a cut-off date.
The call for applications, including the general conditions and required documents, can be found in the PDF document.
Information on the award process can also be found in the HIP.
