Experience Taiwan in Zittau

The Taipei Representative Office in Berlin and the Ministry of Culture, Taiwan, in cooperation with the Görlitz District, Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, and the City of Zittau, invite you to a special cultural highlight dedicated entirely to Taiwanese culture. On September 22, 2024, the Taiwan Day will take place at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, followed by a Taiwan-themed book exhibition at the Christian Weise Library in Zittau and the Görlitz City Library from September 23 to 29, 2024.

Kicking off Intercultural Week, Taiwan Day promises a varied afternoon full of cultural and informative highlights. From 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., visitors to Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences (Building IV, Theodor Körner Allee 8, Zittau) can look forward to exciting insights into Taiwan’s diverse culture and dynamic economy. The stage program will feature a musical performance and welcoming remarks from high-ranking guests. The event will also provide valuable information about Taiwan’s education system, particularly for students interested in studying in Taiwan. Schools will also have the opportunity to network and establish partnerships with Taiwanese schools.

Outside, the program will be complemented by various cultural activities. Guests can discover the diversity of Taiwanese teas at a tea tasting, try their hand at calligraphy in a workshop, or enjoy Taiwanese delicacies.

On the Monday following the cultural event, the Görlitz City Library and the Christian Weise Library in Zittau will open their doors for a Taiwan-themed book exhibition. From September 23 to 29, 2024, books provided by the Taipei Representative Office in Berlin and the Ministry of Culture, Taiwan, will be on display. This exhibition is also part of Intercultural Week and offers fascinating insights into Taiwan’s culture, history, and social life.
