School network: 3rd networking event of the "Digital School Saxony" initiative

Working Together to Strengthen Computer Science Education in Eastern Saxony.

Begin 13. March 2024 -
End 13. March 2024 -

Learning computer science skills at an early age is important for functioning in a digital society and remaining capable of taking action. As places of learning, schools play an essential and exemplary role in preparing young people for future challenges.
As part of the “Digitale Schule Sachsen” initiative, the SMK aims to strengthen computer science education in Saxony’s schools. One of the goals is to establish a statewide network of schools.

We are pleased to invite you to our upcoming networking event, where schools, projects funded by the “Digital School Saxony” initiative, regional companies, research institutions, and universities will come together to shape the future of education. Our initiative has clear goals:

1. Sparking enthusiasm for computer science: We want to inspire young people to explore the world of computer science. It is particularly important to us to support young girls and women and to reduce dropout rates in STEM degree programs.

2. Preparing for the digital workplace: The demands of the digital workplace are constantly changing. We want to prepare young people as best as possible for these demands so that they are able to succeed in the digital workplace.

3. Supporting new teaching units: We are actively committed to the development, implementation, and testing of new teaching units to improve the quality of computer science education.

4. Building Competencies for Teachers: Our teachers play a crucial role in education. We support them by implementing a targeted professional development program so they can provide their students with the best possible support.

Our event offers the opportunity to initiate joint projects through collaborative exchanges that support schools in developing their computer science education. Together, we can shape the future of education and prepare young people for a successful future in the digital world.

Date: March 13, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
