Content of the event

Given the shortage of skilled workers in many professions, including nursing, German society cannot do without family members providing care, and the German economy cannot do without their professional occupations. That is why successfully balancing caregiving and their professional occupations is essential.
This lecture will present the current state of balancing caregiving and work, as well as relevant legal regulations. With the 2015 Family Care Leave Act, the Independent Advisory Board on Balancing Caregiving and Work was established to provide critical oversight of the federal government’s efforts in this area. The speaker is the vice chair of this advisory board and has led its work since 2015. In conclusion, he will offer a critical summary and make proposals for the further development of this field.
