Shaping teaching for the future

Begin 09. May 2025 - 12:30 Uhr
End 16. May 2025 - 16:00 Uhr

In this workshop, we will examine higher education and the roles of faculty and students against the backdrop of contemporary social and technological developments. The goal is to use fresh ideas and concepts to shape higher education in a way that is relevant to the times in the coming years.

The workshop is divided into four thematic areas:

1 – Introduction, Current Status, and Success
To begin, we will identify traditional patterns and evaluate them for their sustainability. We will situate higher education within the educational landscape, with a particular focus on future developments. Furthermore, the concept of success/learning success will be examined from various perspectives (students, instructors, the university, society, etc.) to derive goals and visions for teaching concepts.

2- Valuable Resources
Time and energy are valuable resources for all involved—students as well as instructors. How can we make the best possible use of these resources? We will explore how instructors can consciously manage the trust students place in us for our class / course. At the same time, we will learn to empower students to take ownership of their own learning success.

3 - The Instructor’s Vision
Where should students be heading in my class / course, and how does this fit into the broader picture of the curriculum? Based on this clarity, we will develop ideas and concepts for classes / courses by creating inspiring learning environments and engaging intensively with aspects of testing and assessment.

4- Focus on the Students
In the final part of the workshop, the focus is on the students and their perspectives on our teaching concepts. We will pay particular attention to learning support and its impact on students. How can we, as instructors, enable students to reach their full potential? Furthermore, we will foster an awareness of the need for continuous professional and personal development among instructors to ensure that teaching concepts and student support remain up-to-date and forward-looking.
