The economy, the market, and politics are becoming more dynamic and complex, and predictions are becoming less reliable. Decisions are increasingly being made amid uncertainty. People must take the initiative to organize their own actions as well as those of teams, groups, and organizations.

This places increased demands on all graduates, as they are expected to acquire not only “hard skills”—that is, specialized knowledge—but also “soft skills” or competencies while still in school. Competencies are abilities for self-organization; they are dispositions toward self-organization. Acting in an open-ended problem-solving and decision-making context—within complex, often chaotic systems—is considered self-organized.

To master challenges, one needs not only the knowledge of “how to do it” but also the appropriate mindset to act competently. We offer the opportunity to measure this mindset—personal value patterns or a competency profile—using the KODE® method. This method is not a personality test; rather, it measures value orientations in various situations, which are subject to change.

As a student at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, you have the opportunity here to complete a free competency self-assessment using the KODE® method.

For more information on how the process for your competency self-assessment works, see the tutorials on using the career portal for competency development here.
