Shaping sustainability together: Sustainability Council

Sustainability has shaped the HSZG for many years. In numerous initiatives, projects and teaching formats, it has been and continues to be actively practiced, developed and disseminated to society. We would now like to bundle this commitment even more strongly and advance it further together.

As Vice President for Education and Sustainability, I am very pleased to initiate the establishment of the new Sustainability Council. This body is anchored in the Education department and builds on the valuable work of the former Climate Council as well as the current activities of the Sustainability Working Group. The latter began in summer 2025 to resume strategic considerations on bundling our university's sustainability activities.

With the Sustainability Council, we want to create a space in which ideas can flow together, measures can be initiated and concrete changes can be implemented. At the same time, we want to incorporate new perspectives and further strengthen awareness of sustainability in all areas of our university.

Sustainability should not just be a topic of individual projects, but should be reflected in teaching, studies, operations and transfer and thus become a natural part of our everyday university life. To this end, I cordially invite you to get involved. Regardless of whether you already have experience in the field of sustainability, would like to make a professional contribution or are simply motivated to make a difference - your perspective is valuable. The Sustainability Council thrives on the diversity of the people who shape it.
