Color - An interdisciplinary view

In the 2025–26 school year, the Faculty of Natural and Environmental Sciences will once again open its digital lecture hall to upper-secondary students. A series of online lectures will cover key chemistry topics relevant to the curriculum—presented clearly by experienced teachers and supplemented with current references to research. This provides a dynamic insight into exciting questions and methods in modern chemistry. School teachers are also warmly invited!

” Dyes have been part of human life for millennia—from early pigments to modern high-tech materials. The event explains Witt’s chromophore model, the role of conjugated π-electron systems, and the influence of substituents. Complemented by the mesomerism model, it becomes clear how the chemical fundamentals of colored compounds exert their effects.
