The chemistry of natural fiber-reinforced plastics

Begin 03. February 2026 - 19:00 Uhr
End 03. February 2026 - 20:00 Uhr

In the 2025/26 school year, the Faculty of Natural and Environmental Sciences is once again opening its digital lecture hall to upper secondary school students. In a series of online lectures, central and curriculum-relevant topics of chemistry will be addressed - vividly conveyed by experienced teachers and supplemented with current references to research. This provides a lively insight into exciting questions and methods of modern chemistry. Teachers from schools are also cordially invited!

This time:
Natural fiber-reinforced plastics represent an innovative class of materials that combines ecological responsibility with modern technology. The event presents suitable natural fibers and their chemical properties and shows how polymers and the circular economy merge to create sustainable materials. Examples from HSZG research illustrate the role of chemistry from fiber extraction to recycling.
