The Zittau Energy Seminar has been held at our university since 1990.
The goal of this international exchange of expertise between industry and academia is to provide recommendations for addressing the challenges of energy supply. In addition to market and technology analyses, this includes, in particular, exemplary real-world case studies from the present day. Each year, 50–100 representatives from a wide variety of market players come together to present questions and answers from both the supplier and consumer perspectives.
The Energy Seminar is an independent knowledge platform for energy suppliers, industrial companies, commercial, retail, and service enterprises, as well as decision-makers from municipalities, government agencies, and public institutions. Free from commercial interests, this practice-oriented seminar helps advance the transformation of energy supply amid the conflicting priorities of economic efficiency, environmental sustainability, and security of supply.
A key focus of the Energy Seminar is increasing energy efficiency in electricity, gas, and heat supply. Successful solutions are presented, experiences are exchanged, and joint research and development projects are initiated. In addition to its technical and economic focus, the HSZG Energy Seminar also serves as a catalyst for energy policy. The goal is to share existing practical knowledge and jointly develop new approaches. The goal of Stadtwerke Görlitz AG and Stadtwerke Zittau GmbH’s involvement is to position themselves as experts on issues related to the infrastructure sector and to actively help shape the Energy Seminar as a future platform for exchange with municipal utility partners and potential customers.
