28th symposium "Use of renewable raw materials: biomass - heat - electricity"

The 28th symposium "Utilization of Renewable Resources: Biomass - Heat - Power" is dedicated to the energetic use of solid biomass.

Begin 22. May 2025 - 08:00 Uhr
End 23. May 2025 - 15:00 Uhr

A demand-driven energy supply is essential for any economic system. In addition, energy provision must be both environmentally sustainable and economically viable. The modernization of our energy supply system also aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while simultaneously lowering the consumption of fossil resources. In this context, bioenergy will play an important role in the future energy supply due to its wide range of applications, its inherent climate-friendliness, and, above all, its good storage capacity.

The 28th Symposium “Use of Renewable Raw Materials: Biomass – Heat – Electricity,” to be held on May 22 and 23, 2025, in Zittau, will focus specifically on the use of solid biomass for energy. This covers the entire process chain—from the cultivation, harvesting, and processing of biomass, through the conversion process for generating usable energy, to the issue of residues. The variety of technical approaches in this area is enormous; thermochemical biomass gasification will be a key focus of the event on the first day. On the second day, the focus will be on options for municipal heat supply as well as new fuels and utilization pathways.

Experts and interested parties will have the opportunity to present their experiences, findings, and scientific work and to discuss them together. Registration is open until May 16, 2025.
