Biotechnology: The Genetic Fingerprint
- Learn how DNA traces at crime scenes are analyzed to convict perpetrators, and how DNA from a buccal swab is examined to conduct paternity tests. You’ll have the chance to pipette even the smallest amounts of liquid, initiate chemical reactions, and separate DNA in an agarose gel.
Geoecology: Plants as Miners
- Discover how plants can extract metals from soil through the secretion of carboxylic acids. For the demonstration, a plant with exposed roots is placed in an aqueous solution containing an indicator that changes color in response to the secretions.
AI Demonstrator
- Test our advanced artificial intelligence, which can recognize objects on its own. Put the AI to the test, see how it identifies objects, and learn more about the underlying technology.
H2 Scooter
- Check out our fully functional scooter with a 3D-printed frame and experience the latest technologies, such as hydrogen technology, lightweight construction, additive manufacturing, autonomous driving, and artificial intelligence. Please note that this is a supervised exhibition and test rides are not permitted.
Capture the Flag (CTF)
- Try your hand at being a security tester (white hat) and defend your IT system against hacker attacks. Learn how hackers operate and what tools and methods they use, so you can then develop countermeasures and protect critical systems.
Explainable AI
- Understand why an AI recognizes a cat and not, say, a turtle. We’ll show you how artificial intelligence makes decisions and why it’s important to be able to understand these processes.
Mindstorms Robots
- Lego isn’t just for the playroom! With Lego Mindstorms, you can learn the basic principles of robot programming. Try programming a robot yourself and find out why it can follow a line—or sometimes can’t.
AR/VR – Virtual Reality
- Dive into virtual reality and discover all the things you can do with it. Our new Chair of Human-Computer Interaction enables students to develop their own VR and AR apps. Here, you’ll learn how it works.
Experiment Station: Non-Contact Temperature Measurement with Infrared (Measurement Technology)
- Discover the technology behind non-contact temperature measurement, which is used in many fields to diagnose damage in technical systems.
Experimental Station: Process Automation (Automation Technology)
- Experience how state-of-the-art control technology manages and optimizes processes. Find out if you can control a fill level better than a controller, or discover what it takes to let a robot or a car autonomously explore a space.
