Update: "Examinations in SoSe 2020 are not counted towards the number of examination attempts" instead of "upcoming examinations count as free attempts". Background: The term "free attempt" is already covered by § 19 of the HSZG examination regulations. Changes to the places where "free attempt" was used.
Dear students,
Since our demands for a "Solidarsemseter 2020" have not yet been addressed and the Student Council can only pass on the interests of students in an advisory capacity, we are now trying to make our voices heard in another way.
In the last few days, the Student Council has discussed with the student senators, as they can convene a special meeting of the Senate (the highest body of the university). A corresponding application with the topic "Solidarity semester 2020" was sent to the university management this Sunday, May 3, 2020. We have not yet been informed of the date of the special meeting.
Together, we have prepared a Senate resolution in advance, which takes up the most important demands of the "Solidarity Semester 2020", adapted to our university, and presents them to the Senate for a vote.
Here is a summary of the demands from the Senate's draft resolution:
- Participation in examinations in the summer semester 2020 possible for everyone and thus a regular course of study
- Examinations in summer semester 2020 are not counted towards the number of examination attempts
- Application without proof of reasons for non-crediting of the SoSe 2020 in the standard period of study can be made in case of failure or request for repetition
- Application can also be made directly and examinations can be postponed (free attempt does not apply)
- Suspension of all examination deadlines and automatic failure regulations for the SoSe 2020 and thus no forced disenrolment (from university)
- Removal of module dependencies
- Suspension of the compulsory passing of all examinations before the start of the final thesis
- Expansion of the range of examinations in winter semester 20/21
- Repeat examinations from winter semester 19/20 can also be taken in the regular examination period of summer semester 2020, instead of now in the follow-up and repeat period
- Extension of expiring study and examination regulations
- Solutions for internship semesters and mandatory internship semesters abroad
- Recognition of corona aid as practical days
- Student representatives on the HSZG crisis team
The aim is to ensure that no student is disadvantaged by the current situation and that your interests can be successfully represented!
In order to make it clear to the Senate members that many students support the demands of the "Solidarity Semester 2020" and our Senate resolution proposal, we have started a petition which will be presented to the Rectorate and the Senate members before the meeting. We ask you to sign this petition and also to make your fellow students aware of it.

We hope that we can quickly create certainty for you and your studies through this procedure. We look forward to the upcoming discussion with you, the Rectorate and the members of the Senate and hope for constructive cooperation.
